Awning Stopped Working

The power awning on my 6 month old Jayco trailer stopped working. It was working OK at first. A few weeks ago I noticed it would extend, but when I re-tracted it would stop after a foot or two. I came back an hour or so later and it went the rest of the way. I extended it today OK. When I re-tracted it came in about a foot or two and then stopped. I tried waiting a few hours, but this time it still won't move. I checked the fuse and it appears to be intact. To be sure I swapped it with another 15 amp fuse and tried again. Nothing. It's not all the way out. It's only out a few feet so it may survive any strong winds we get, but I can't drive this way (in October). I can take it in for some warranty work, but I'd like to avoid that since we are living in it.

Are there any easy fixes I've missed or do I need to buy a ladder to manually retract it for now? Can I also manually extend it? That sounds like fun. I guess I would want to get that electric screwdriver I've postponed buying.

    I stopped using my long awing early own due to near constant gusty winds in central Texas and later in Nevada. Often ground was to hard for anchor stakes.

    The strong winds would cause my TT to rock back and forth and almost tore loose from the TT. I wish a shorter awning had been installed at the manufacturer. live and learn is name of the game.

    Thanks. It has a simple switch. I'll see what Jayco customer service can suggest. They will probably just say to take it to a dealer for warranty service.

    Only thing to do is troubleshoot it. Check for voltage to the motor on the awning, and go from there. It's possible there's a short in the wiring going to the motor, that's what mine was. Does you Jayco have a simple switch for the awning or a central nervous system?

    It's always something for a home owner. It's even worse for a full timer.
