It's not the brightness that is a problem, but exactly the fact that it's shining downwards too close to your face. I wrote about this already. You need a proper diffused light. A difficult task, since the sink and counter are smaller than in residential homes, and the ceiling is much lower, so any wall or ceiling light will be too close to your face both vertically and horizontally.

Still, a diffused will help. Maybe a fluorescent, don't know. For now, I've settled to shaving well after breakfast when there is an additional light from the roof hatch. Sometimes leave patches under the chin where shades are darker, but honestly, I don't care when living in a trailer.

I installed a 12 v fluorescent fixture instead of the incandescent fixture and that worked well for me.
I have read in the bathroom/library all of my life and think that people that don't are weird. :)

Just walk down the aisle of any big box store like Lowes etc.
There are a plethora of battery operated stick up lights. They've come a long way with these stick up lights. Some of the led ones will blind you in a small bathroom! :B

I think this will help.

I agree with the more light/more heat concept. You can melt the plastic fixture and/or cover. I have seen it done. If you want brighter, go with a cooler bulb, like an LED.

Wedge base style bulb, can you get a led bulb like that? Only place to get in some good reading LOL
