bathroom light help

We just got back from a great weekend of camping, my only problem was the bathroom light would not work. Tried a new bulb, nothing, checked the fuse, it was fine, any ideas on this issue?

  • Just like others have said... before you replace the fixture, check the switch on the wall first and then the switch on the fixture...

Unlike others (me) who had a problem with the ceiling light fixture not working.... and they figured out the switch on the fixture was off before cutting a host of wires and connecting the fixture directly to the circuit (bypassing the wall switch).... Don't make my mistake!!!
  • well for anybody that might have this problem, one of the two wires going into the wall switch was not attached, works great now!!
  • well I just ordered a new led fixture I hope that s all that is wrong, and yes I have a wall switch and made sure that was on

X2 what TUCSONJIM says. I got caught in that trap once... I never realized my 5th wheel trailer bathroom light had a switch on it as well. I had always used the switch on the wall...

  • If it's the typical white plastic light, the switches on those go bad. When I bought my tt, I had to replace 5 or 6 fixtures that didn't work. Testing showed bad switches. Got new ones from Amazon for about $7.

You can pull the fixture down and using a meter, see if there is voltage going to the switch (when the wall switch is on).
  • Just want to make sure you didn't miss the obvious. On my bathroom light, there is a switch on the wall, and a switch on the light itself. If they are not BOTH turned on, the light won't illuminate.
  • Lack of power to fixture or bad ground. Do you own a meter?
