So my question is this... how would you run your A/C on this during the later heat of the day, off the battery, and then timer recharge is when the cost per kilowatt from your power utility company is at a mimimum?

In other words shift from peak demand load and pricing per KWH, to off hours where utilities companies charge less per kwh.

Who knows what tomorrow may bring with electric cars and the better batteries they use.

Typical grid tie home inverter SunnyBoy 3000tl-us is $1500. Operates at MPPT so voltage input is VERY flexible. Runs at 500 volts to create 240vac to feed the grid from solar panels set in series. I can't imagine a solar controller to charge this Tesla battery from solar or charge from 120/240 would add much to the cost.

It will almost certainly be an inverter charger of the grid tied variety.

Voltage is commercial solar farm (small) grade. Thirteen thousand dollars for a 14Kw 380volt to 480vac inverter. And the inverter has a rather tight voltage band. A yes/no function threshold. I'm wondering how the constraints would allow this to be viable.

the avg A/C draws 12amp at 120v about 1400w
yes it could power an A/C , run time would be determine by how much of that 7KWhr
was useable

i'm thinking the inverter 400vdc to 120vac is not going to be cheap
and the charge system is not going to be cheap either
especially converting up .. over 400+ volts to recharge
those are LETHAL VOLTAGES

So that is how much power it can produce at one time. I'm thinking that could run a air conditioner.

One thought is that having a 7-10 KW solar system for a 1-1 ratio is huge even on a residence.

I still think a used leaf or other "dead" battery makes a lot of sense. They consider them through their life span at 80% of oem capacity. I believe the leaf sits at 24 kwh.

Anyone find anything about the inverter that would need to be used to drop 400 down to 120?
