They did a load test and said it didn't look good. Then tested the cells with a hydrometer and found one that didn't register any charge and declared the battery "history".
I'm not clear exactly how the WFCO charger works with a defective battery either. I'm purely guessing that it thinks the battery is undercharged and will keep trying to get it charged up forever, but that can't be good for the battery and maybe even accelerate failure? What I'd like to have is a decent 4-stage converter that will let me keep plugged into shore power when parked at home without having to worry about shortened battery life.
Sadly, DW is an accountant and is wising up to my ways of concealing mods and upgrades, lol. The dog angle might be the way to go... :D

I like it when others follow up and am doing it also now. Nice to know how some things get resolved, esp. if they are complicated or oddball.
The fan only went on when a bunch of lights were turned on. From the converter's point of view, it was doing it's job. Would like to upgrade to a better converter/charger one day if DW will allow, but technical things are a tough sell with her. :()
What is a "dead cell" anyway? Low SG, shorted, what?
Perhaps the converter only gets over-worked if it is a shorted cell vice a "low" cell? Not clear on all this at all.
Tell DW the new converter is for the dog, and she'll go for it? I like PowerMax, but there are other brands if you are desperate. (Take that you PD guys!) :)
