Once I get back home, it's going to happen. Pure time element comparison. It's a tight contest.........not between chargers. What do I like less.....listening to a generator or a spouse with hands on hips reciting an oration of "Honey Do's"?

That was for perspective. Generator noise bothers me. I would rather listen to birds chirp and the hiss and roar of ocean waves. When I fire up the Kubota, it knows it's going to be on line for the absolute minimum of time.

+1 for the 40 amp Black & Decker. Get it while you can. Perfectly matched to the 1000va generator.

Sears has a hundred chargers and none compare IMO. And you would need to link the exact model to get fair comments. Especially watch out for the chargers with start capability listed like 2-10-50 amps. 2-10-50 is really a 10 amp charger as the 50 amp is just good for 30 seconds to boost start a vehicle.

I also use the B&D VEC1093DBD 40AMP smart mode battery charger. This will re-charge 12VDC deep cycle batteries in a quick three your run time. I connect this portable charger to my 2KW generator when needed.

The VEC1093DBD smart mode charger draws 785WATTS on the AC side and works well with my 2KW Honda Generator. Not sure what the MAX OUTPUT is from the Honda 1KW Generator. It is probably around 900WATTs...

The RULE OF THUMB is if you want to re-charge a DEEP CYCLE BATTERY to its 90% charge state in a three hour time frame you need to hit it with 14.4VDC with 18-20AMPS of DC Current available. Two batteries will take 14.4VDC with 36-40 AMPS of DC Current available if you want to charge them in a three hour time frame.

The unregulated 12.0VDC at 8AMPS from the Honda BAT CHARGE ports will take probably way over 24 hours to just get your battery to its 90% charge state. My generator will only run 6-7 hours on one tank of gas hehe...

Got a bunch of DieHard Platinum chargers torn down because the main board failed, and power output control is through MOSFETS. Repair parts are not available. Best to believe the negative reviews. MOSFET output control means the internals cannot be salvaged for other charging purposes. I would not use one if someone gave me one, because of the dependability issue. To China they return, crushed.

Watching as one of my chargers died.
