- beemerphile1ExplorerThe emergency breakaway should not have a fuse.
I am thinking it is the fuse on the main line at the battery but the picture isn't enough. Many of those fuse holders have a smaller wire which is permissible if the main wiring is of the correct size.
You need to check out that line more thoroughly. What is the wire gauge? It will be printed on the insulation of the wire. Follow the line, where does it come from and where does it go? Like already said, a 35 amp converter will burn a 20 amp fuse because it is trying to put over 20 amps into a discharged battery.
Also, please follow forum rules of a maximum width of 640 for pictures. - westendExplorerYou need to find out what device uses the circuit that uses the 20 amp fuse. I don't think it's the converter because it is very small wire, possibly 14 ga.. You could use the same process of elimination that you used previously. Turn off all the breakers, hook to shore power, and with the fuse REMOVED, turn on the main breaker and the breaker for the converter. If that is the fused wire for the converter, you should have measurable voltage above 12v on one side of the fuse holder. If there is no power on the fuse holder, your problem is elsewhere.
I would suspect the fused circuit is for the trailer's emergency braking system. Check to make sure your break away switch doesn't have the pin pulled. - rje1448ExplorerUnfortunately, I have already taken it back to the dealer and all they did was change the fuse (which I had already identified as the problem, eventhough I am completley new at this stuff, said it was fine, and sent me on my way.
- hmknightncExplorerWhat is in that picture is definitely not your battery protection fuse. If that fuse is preventing the converter from charging the battery you have something wrong with your wiring. Take it back to the dealer or reputable repair service. Hard to tell what is really the problem without tracing the wiring.

- downtheroadExplorerI'm confused too...maybe you are looking at the little in-line fuse that protects your electric tongue jack (if you have one)???
- hmknightncExplorerCan you take a picture and post it so we make sure we understand what you are seeing?
What you are describing (yes, the fuse off the battery) is your battery protection fuse. There is no way that fuse (if it really is the battery fuse) should be 20 amps with a 35 amp comverter. It ought to be at least 50 amp, so I think we are confused or you have something seriously wrong with the wiring (you already indicated a previous problem with Refer wiring) - BFL13Explorer IIYou have a 35 amp converter trying to go through a 20 amp fuse. change it to a 40 amp fuse. Somebody at the factory was an idiot ( not unusual sadly :( )
