One of the "big solar" rigs I maintain is nearly 100% off the grid- he can have 15 amp power in Brooklyn, but doesn't use it to charge. The Batteries are used hard maybe 120 days per year- 9 12 volt G31 Full River AGM DC115-12 @ 115 a/h ea.
Charging id via ~800 watts of solar via Outback MPPT controller, or Xantrex RS3000 charger/inverter and Onan 7kw genset.
Loads are steamers, curling irons, hair dryers on inverter, a LOT of LED lights (makeup mirrors), Nova Kool under counter reefer, coffee maker and Nespresso machine. On a big job, morning is run off batteries, 1 hour for recharge at lunch break, then maybe an hour after work. If air conditioners are needed, the gesnset runs.
Batteries are 7 years old, still easily pass basic load tests
