- MrWizardModeratorI think everybody knows, that eBay has nothing to do with 'warranty'
that doesn't mean all eBay sellers are big dealers with over stock
and it doesn't mean they are reputable .. - RJsfishinExplorerI had forgotten to mention, my ebay PD 9245 did include the pendant.
And for those who don't know, ebay can be nothing more than a big dealer selling specials on ebay, which was the case w/ my purchase.A warranty is not honored by ebay, its honored by the dealer that owns the business that is selling specials on ebay. And smart people buy only from reputable dealers on ebay
But aside from that, why would I even be concerned about a warranty on a PD converter anyway ?? Thats why I buy PD converters. Have you ever heard of a PD converter dying ? Ok ok, I think I heard of one also,....years ago ! :) - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I understand perfectly why Randy sells WFCO. Some folks insist on OEM components. Why should he cut himself off from folks who prefer to do that?

Call Randy at Best converter.
Best Converter
I did one of these from Best Converter. Direct swap, easy install.
Has built in Charge Wizard to keep your batteries charged and won't boil them. I have had it plugged in all the time while at home and it works fine.
Best Converter
Best price at Amazon.
Amazon
The Amazon one does not come with the remote control Pendant so you have to purchase one of those too.... +$10-$17.00...
Randy "Bestconverter" includes the pendant with the price and he has NO SHIPPING/HANDLING fees.... And if you get into trouble he will assist you...
I recommend him highly...
I too was dismayed by the failures of the WFCO's.... Had one for about 3 years and the damn thing croaked.... I do not blame Randy for that.... But I do not understand why he continues to market them.
Jim - KJINTFExplorerI always get me good laugh
When folks say "Well it's made in China"
Take a close look see at the components inside any of your favorite converters -"Made in China" appears on at least 75% of all the internal parts. Being assemblied in the US more than likely adds cost and no real value.
After repairing several dozen of the "Good" quality converters, I suggest you purchase at a place with the best deal and forget about warranty. They are simple and low cost to repair if you actually ever have a problem with them. Get one without a cooling fan, a mechanical device that will fail. - Of course there are more failed WFCOs, because WFCO is installed in more RVs. This is not Randy's fault.
For suppying 13.6 volts WFCO is pretty good IMO. When we all started demanding the boost mode actually work as expected, that is when the problems started. As a general use Magnetek replacement WFCO seems OK. I am not sure Randy or many others understood the WFCO boost issue until the users on this forum demanded to know how and why the boost did not work as expected.
I tried the much ballyhooed Xantrex XADC and it was not exactly perfect either. It now sits under my workbench in my garage.
My smaller 35a WFCO has worked as expected. But now it sits in the trailer unpowered since installing the solar.
I think the biggest problem with WFCO was for $10 more you can have 55a instead of 35a but the manufacturers installed wiring and a small battery for a 35 amp. This is not Randy's fault.
I don't really recommend WFCO unless OEM look and fitment is desired. Although now it looks like powermax has a bolt in replacement so I would probably go with powermax for that purpose.
Good luck to the OP :R - MrWizardModeratori hope you never have too use that warranty
iirc there was a post about issues with returns to converters of ebay sellers
i'm running on memory, i don't have a link
somethings i feel safe buying from eBay
other things i don't
when something gets worked as hard as my converter,
i want a known Good provider that stands by the product and customerRJsfishin wrote:
I recently bought a PD9245 off ebay $129 inc shipping and 3 yr warranty.
I wouldn't buy anything from Randy, only for the fact that he kept selling those junk Wfco converters long after he knew they were junk. A lot of people lost a lot of money because of the converters he continued to sell.
I got involved in one of those deals, and still haven't gotten over it. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIThere are a large number of top end converters out there, IOTA (With IQ4) is one, WFCO well it's made in China so there is a quality control issue. Xantrex and many more.
My personal preference is Progressive Dynamics with charge wizard but that is MY preference. It is, however, specific set for flooded wet cells. not AGM or other Maintenance free. - He gets pretty busy.
- AllegroDNomadHe will reply.
