braided water hoses for shower faucet

Is it possible to install metal enforced braided water hoses to the back of the shower faucet hot and cold water connections attaching them to the apex fittings in the wall?

Apex fitting began spraying water while at a campground which had huge fluctuations of water pressure. Fittings don't leak when using trailer water pump but soak towels when system is hooked up to city line. Have 2 pressure relief valves on feed line to trailer.

Hate to call a plumber if this idea could work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Just went thru some of this as I pulled the stool and replaced it with a porta-potty(not many dump stations in Colombia and Ecuador) so had to rework the water line. The threads on PEX compression fittings are 1/2" pipe so almost anything can be made to fit. Don' try to to pull those compression fittings as they are really tough to work particularly in tight places. A plastic pipe cutter is about $15 and the Sharkbite fittings just slide on. I used the braided faucet hose for my purposes of having a water pipe to feed the p-p tank. Of course this had to be done inside the shore power compartment behind the shower.
  • What are 2 pressure relief valves?

If water pump pressure doesn't cause problems then need to set water pressure regulator to 45# static pressure(no flow). Then that would be the MAX pressure your city water line could provide.

Fix the high water pressure issue first...then fix the leak

If you are talking about braided metal shrouded washing machine hoses, I think the fittings are the same. Any clothes washer fittings are the same as your shower faucet fittings. So the hoses should fit just fine.

Not sure what Apex fittings are but if you can find matching hoses.. Then yes.

Ah, looks like you mean the fittings on the end of the PEX pipes.

The shower valve has standard 1/2 inch IPT threads on it, so the APEX fitting is sized to match a 1/2 inch Iron pipe.. All you need is a nipple.

And perhaps a washer.. Not sure there do not have a fitting handy to look at just now.
