Just an FYI, on a commercial airplane there are many many thousands of gas tight crimped wire connections performing functions that you life depends upon.
FYI,
I HAVE had to "fix" many badly done crimp jobs by others over the years..
Even with the PROPER TOOL, extremely bad crimp jobs can and often happen. And no, most crimp jobs are not "gas tight", not one little bit. Moisture often wicks it's way into the crimp joint eventually causing enough corrosion of the wire to start heating the connection.
I HAVE seen this happen..
Crimp joints are typically used in HIGH SPEED wiring production, it is faster than soldering and often the folks making those crimp joints have ZERO experience, knowledge or training on crimping or any other electronics background.
Time is money and crimping won favor by saving labor hrs and training hrs..
