Carefree awning replacement

I have ordered the hand crank replacement of the springs & the install manual says you can leave the spring on the left side to help when closing the awning, yet they advertise it not needing any springs, any experience either way? Thanks

  • When I converted to the hand crank, I took both springs out. Pretty easy and safe if you follow the instructions for unwinding the springs.
  • I have taken the awning apart a couple of times with no problem.
  • If you are not familiar with spring-loaded awnings I would recommend you get some expert help, they can be dangerous.
