Changed carburetor, but now have new problem - smoke?

I have an Onan Marquis Gold 7000. Float was bad so I put in a new carburetor. New carburetor installed fine, generator started right up with no problem, producing electricity 118volts @ 62Hz. Runs ...

you are correct. I just checked the oil (which had been recently changed) and the oil is thin, smells somewhat like gasoline.

I guess I will just drain and replace oil and filter; and try again.
