Changed carburetor, but now have new problem - smoke?

I have an Onan Marquis Gold 7000. Float was bad so I put in a new carburetor. New carburetor installed fine, generator started right up with no problem, producing electricity 118volts @ 62Hz. Runs ...

Update: Changed the oil and filter. Generator smokes inside cabinet area... almost a burning rubber smell after only a minute or two. Continues to smoke a few minutes after shutting down the generator.
