Just bought a used Class C with a wheelchair lift from a dealer in Canada. They had it and one other made specifically for their rental business.It is a 2013 build on a 2012 Ford E450 V-10. Both the chassis and coach were built in the U. S. for the Canadian market. It has passed the importation process and I am getting ready to register it here.Speedometer has Km/hr most prominent; mi/hr is on inner ring almost invisible. Not really an issue. Here is my problem. The odometer and trip meters, though, show in km and that just bothers the heck out of me. Try to figure out how much 'East Overshoe' 37 mi.' on a road sign is in km to decide if you have enough fuel. These are digital, so ought to be easy to shift between km and mi output. I have found how to enter the "test" mode on the display. I cannot, however, figure out how to reset km to mi on the menu. Can anyone help? Do I have to stand at attention and sing O Canada?

Neither one will work on RVs. I am in the process of checking with the other Ford-related brands to see if they can do the work.

I looked at the owners manual online, and it explained exactly how to change from metric to english display. Go to the dealer service department, just tell them its a truck, and ask how to do it. Don't bother telling them its a RV. Just ask.

Select or reset the function by holding the SELECT/RESET stem for more than two seconds."The first option it pulls up for you to change should be language, but the way I read the manual if you allow it to fully RESET it should default all options to English and Imperial measurements which is what you want for the US.BTW, what you're looking for in the manuals is any reference to "Message Center".

I have had 3 vehicles with the km/miles option.
In all cases it was a setting to change from one to the other.
Either imperial/metric or english/metric.
All records were displayed in the units selected.
Go to any dealer and they should be able to show you.

Another advantage of using the Garmin is when you go back to Canada on a trip it is easy to change back (or, on some models, it will automatically give you MPH rather than Km when you cross the border).

As to keeping track of the miles driven, it shouldn't be impossible to explain the odometer is in Km to the DMV. They even managed to convert kilograms to pounds when I registered my trailer (NY charges by weight).

It really may not be as simple as some of you are making it sound.

I had a Class C (Ford) rental in Alaska a couple years back. Its odometer was in km. Evidently made for and originally sold in Canada. I tried everything to get it to read in miles, including everything in the owner's manual. No luck. I had to live with it. Fortunately, I only had it for 10 days, so it was only a minor annoyance.

Good luck with it.

If you get desperate, Denver has a Ford dealer that works on RV's. We were travelling cross country and had a problem there.

When told that we were travelling cross country, they took a tech off another job and got us done first. Really nice folks.

We just drove to the first RV dealer we could find and asked where to get our Ford chassis worked on. They told us exactly where to go.

Service Dept does not need to get it inside, just someone that can walk out to the vehicle. (and knows what to do)

That is all well and good but in some states like mine, they CAPTURE the "mileage" for registration and even when you buy and sell a vehicle..

Friend of mine ran into a problem when he inherited his Uncles car and somewhere along the way someone had flipped it to KMs..

His vehicle according to the state records now reflected 200,000 + KMs and that number ended up on the vehicles title that way as 200,000 + MILES..

OP needs to find a Ford dealer that has a TRUCK SHOP (not all Ford dealers have a truck shop).. Those Truck shops can easily accommodate Pickup Trucks, Ambulances, Box trucks and yes RVs..

agesilaus: If I go further into the menu, I can get an active digital speedometer readout. One menu item is in mph, the next item is in km.

I hope I can find an answer. It does not seem to be as simple as it appears.

Since this truck was built for the Canadian market, reset may default to metric.

Here is a photo of the menu item I think ought to allow the switch between km and mi. I just can't seem to find the right combination to get a swap done. Pressing and holding the reset button only takes me to the next menu item.
