No. There is ONE crossover from one end to the other, mine are orange.

Some of the current Servers I am working with is a DELL R320 and R620 along with Desktop HP RP5800 and a bunch of proprietary PCs I can't talk about (have a new MB to checkout next week for one of my COs products next week and I would bet that it doesn't either). NONE of them do any auto detect so I do feel that my current experience with Ethernet is pretty much up to date.

Look at the positive side the MSLoad application only works via the RS232 connection when you decide to upgrade the operating firmware inside that nice controller.

My 1999 Dell Laptop I am typing this on does exactly that have not ever needed a crossover with this or any other of the computers here. Guess each computer manufacturer does it a bit differently.

I never did get the ethernet to work even with a crossover cable.
I bought a cable for the serial port and eventually it worked. I think it was RS232 to USB.
Then it seemed to need be in a different mode for programming vs reading data.
Would not exactly call it plug and play.

The software is LOOKING for the controller, not through the internet but as a LOCAL IP address (IE LAN or local area network), via the wired NIC.

the 192 address is a default address given to the device by the manufacturer. Your device will become connectable once you have a crossover cable..

Since your laptop is wireless and the Mornistar is not, you will need to connect a ethernet cable from the controller to the laptop.

The problem is you will need a SPECIALLY wired Ethernet cable which has the PAIRS of wires "switched". Standard Ethernet cables are wired straight through and your network hubs actually automatically switch the pairs for you. Hence the cable you need is a switched pair one or also known as a "crossover" cable.

Once you have a switched pair cable you should be able to find the charger port address..

What I HAVE found however is pretty much ALL modern day network hubs DO auto detect and crossover when needed.

The OP NEEDS either a crossover cable OR a network hub to put in between the charger and laptop wired NIC cards...

OK- I wasn't aware of the autodetect feature- but I bet the OP is not using the wired ethernet connection (he says he is connected with a cable), just the wireless connection. Not sure in Windows how to check for that.
