Converter ?

Try a non GFI outlet as a temporary fix. Then you can focus on power issues rather than GFI gremlins. Replace the GFI after all other issues are resolved.

Where are you.. I'm in the Detroit/Port huron/Flint area this summer and this kind of trouble shooting is .. Within my hands on skill set.

I'm sure others can do it as well

NOTE: When I say in the area.. I do not mean I'll be spending more than a few minutes in any of those cities.. .Just in the area. (Within 50 miles of)

Disconnect from shore power, turn all breakers off. Remove the GFCI and expose the wires so measurements can be taken. Plug back into shore power. measure voltage at wires. Turn the main 30 amp breaker on and measure. Turn individual breakers on and measure. While you are turning on individual breakers you should have power to the GFCI wires. That will indicate a miswired or faulty GFCI. If you don't measure any voltage at any of the above steps, you have a wiring or circuit breaker problem. Mark on the load center which breaker controls the GFCI circuit.

Is there power on the wire? Zero volts indicates you need to work back to the breaker panel and discover the open circuit.

The box for the gfci says yellow indicates proper wiring.I found a ground wire popped out of the wire nut. I resecured it with new nut and it still is o volts!??? driven me nuts.:h

I did have a GFCI in a house once that had hot run to *both* sides. Took me a while to figure that one out just from the odd symptoms and occasionally tripped circuit breakers.

As wa8xym said, lots of GFCI breakers are lit when they are tripped. The only way your breaker would be off and still delivering power is if it has shorted internally. Unless your wiring has been mofified and is not going to said breaker. Do yourself and favor and buy a voltage detector you can just place it near the wires and it will tell you if voltage is present. It saves a lot of jolts to the ticker.

It sounds like you're getting power to the GFCI (due to being shocked). Try hitting yuor "test" button on the outleet and then reset it, I have a feeling you'l have power once again.

There are, for this discussion, two different types of GFCI outlets.

The ones at the church Parish I used to belong to when the light is on power is on to the outlet.. These are kind of rare I do not see many of them.

The one in my RV, the ones at most parks I visit, the ones I had in my house, all work differently.. When the light is on it indicates TRIPPED and no power is passed.

I'm thinking yours is like the far more common ones where the light means I'm tripped"

Plug a known good night light into the GFCI outlet, no light means I'm right.

NOw... A common cause of instant trip

Water gets in the patio outlet... and CLICK of darkness ensues

(The click of darkness is either a tripped breaker or GFCI)

20 Days later! I have been busy Competition BBqen and using extension cord through window.I replace shore plug,nope it still screwed up pulled breakers and multimeterd them ohms of resistance 100% when selected off the siamesed breaker is a 15 and 20 amp on the winni. I then moved to the gfi in bathroom- next in line according to schematic..I tested the gfi for volts yellow light on o volts. turned 30 amp main off pulled gfi out zaPP! FELY LIKE ALTERNATING CURRENT hehe anyways I looked down and yes the main was off looking me in the eye,yes I went and checked it 3 times it is off.So is there a capacitor in gfi? 4 recepticles remain down stream Galley tv and dinette and I believe external outlet.Something to do with ground perhaps?

30a is the main breaker. Just like in your home. The remaining 15 or 20 amp breakers are the branch circuits. There is no hidden breaker for the converter. When plugged in you should have 120 volts on all the breakers. Turn firmly off and firmly back on to reset.
