Dicor self levelling sealant question.

I dug out the old sealant from the back cap on my rubber roof and applied new Dicor along the seam last week. I am now second guessing myself and thinking I should have applied a slightly thicker & wider strip. Can I apply more Dicor on top of the strip laid in a week ago?
Thanks,
Warren.

  • isn't u tube a good place to learn new things. I stayed up one night a watched 64 videos that the RVgeeks have on various rv issues. strongly recommend u tube.
  • Every year I just wipe clean and go right over the old stuff as needed.
Works fine and have not repeted the same area twice yet.
  • I looked at the web site instructions and it didn't seem to say. Other threads seem to point to it being ok. If clean it should bond to itself. I'd vote to give it another go if you think you got sufficient amounts penetrated where it needed to go. Then simply a thicker coat may help out.

All that said, you can eyeball it and see for yourself if you like the seal and strength of the current seal. That stuff is darn near impossible to mess up because of its properties, ie it will find its way to the cracks and holes.
  • Preparation is the name of the game. Clean with acetone and get all the white residue off and you are good to go.
  • I wouldn't see a problem as long as you cover over completely, then again if you feel that will not be a good idea i would completely remove it and re-do it.
