Pricing new TT tires. Dicount Tire offers an add on protection plan of $16 per tire. Is it worth the additional cost?

A solid NO in my opinion. Discount Tire's plan overs replacement due to a tire failure or manufacturer defect IF it still has legal tread left and is not older than 3 years. I have had one tire failure beyond repair that I remember in 50+ years and a million + miles of mine and my DW's driving. Had I paid all those protection plans for all those tires I would have wasted a lot of money.
Ask youself. How many tires have you had to replace due to failure rather than wearing out.
