Pricing new TT tires. Dicount Tire offers an add on protection plan of $16 per tire. Is it worth the additional cost?

They replaced all 4 tires on my TT due to tread separation. No charge, no questions asked. One tire that was installed on on my car before I bought it developed a knot, they replaced it, no charge, even though it was over 6 years old.
