I purchased 4 new Yokohama tires for our Santa Fe and passed on the tire insurance. Four days later I got nail bombed, a large number of nails taped together, on a state highway in front a number of Mom and Pop tire shops and repair shops. I ended up with 2 clusters (about 20) of nails in the rear tires but heard them clicking before the tires blew. Discount allowed me to purchase the insurance after the fact because of the short period of time between the purchase and the "accidental road hazards". The moral to the story: Tire insurance is only a good investment if something stupid happens. An "extended warranty" on your used vehicle is only a good investment if something breaks that costs more than the policy.
