Pricing new TT tires. Dicount Tire offers an add on protection plan of $16 per tire. Is it worth the additional cost?

I bought it because I want a no hassle new tire if there are any issues. Sure there is a manufacturer's warranty but that can be a hassle and prorated.
By the time we find a flat, the tire is often shredded. No telling if defect, road hazard or operator error. I don't want to sort it out, just get me a new tire.
