The Center support works 2 Ways. It can stay connected to the sidewall and swings out to the awning tube OR, (the way I want you to use it) it is installed in the center of the awning tube(same hole) and is perpendicular to the ground and it swings loose from the sidewall and you use the 2 stakes supplied to anchor to the ground. You then raise the tube up to clear the door which will push against the 2 extend arm shocks. That will cause the tension on the fabric to loosen. You then partially retract to regain the tautness.
