Dometic Awning Part Numbers and Changing out Arms

For some reason when our Coachmen was built they put "basement" hardware (part number 8951001.400B) on. This means we don't have the ability to adjust for rain and the angle drops so much the door rai...

Is there any reason you couldn't move the mounting rail of the awning closer to the roof and increase the angle and get the top of the awning further from the door?

It would be a pain, but it would sure work better: better drainage, wouldn't be so close to the door.
