Before i saw your 2nd post i called an mobile RV tech and he walked me threw a factory hard reset and the E1 code is gone. Its showing one unit instead of two but won't turn on the zone 1 unit. He had me try the heat pump and the fan. They show on for unit one only. I ordered another thermastat as he told me. I will keep you all posted so as if someone else runs into a simular problem.

I can guarantee the tstat is NOT your problem. A reset just verifies the settings on EACH control board. Nothing else. Since the control cable between the 2 zones is defective, that is why the other Zone does not show up. Zone 1 is not communicating with Zone 2. Zone 2 is the control board that is connected to the Tstat. Doug

I took off cover and steel plate, didn't see any corrosion. Jiggled al wires they were tight. Unhooked connection on ack of thermostat. Everything was running fine all summer, first cool night I turned power off. Went to turn on and E1 comes up. Any ideals or know of a good rv man on eastern shore Maryland

You did not do everything I told you. You checked the modular connects at the BOARD. The connections at the board, those are short 12 inch pigtails that go into the evap area and connect to the wires from the tstat and other AC control board. You have to remove that large plastic evap cover to see and check those connections. Doug

  • E1 is loss of communication between the wall CCC Tstat and ANY of the Roof AC control modules. Now, DRV, usually has TOP mounted AC units and NO access from the inside, as it does not have the 15 by 15 inch inside ceiling Plenum/filter assbly. So, it also depends on your Dometic Model number(Penguin or regular profile). They usually used Penguins. That means the control board is only accessed from the roof. You have to remove the top cover and then remove a metal plate to expose the upper AC board. The USUAL cause of E1 on an older unit is corrosion in the Evaporator area. The 4 wire phone TYPE cables get moisture from the humidity and corrode the modular pins. The control boards have 2 phone type connections. then they have a short 12 inch long pigtail that the Tstat connection connects too. It is a beige quick connect union. That is usually located in front of the evaporator and you have to remove the plastic evap cover to access this. If you have more than 1 roof AC, then you have to check all AC connections as 1 corroded will cause communication errors. Doug
  • Remove return air filter and look up inside where the control/wiring and evap coil is located

Might have to remove ceiling grill to fully access
  • Reseat the one on the back of the thermostat.
Pull the inside grill down and check those connections.
Take the top cover off the ACs and check there.
