  • New lock arrived before 11am
    Now installed and working
    The dead bolt is perfect
The handle latch works, but needs some tweaking to be perfect
Not getting full key rotation, when locking and unlocking the door latch
Worked prefect before assembling the two pieces in the door
  • Good News, got the number off the exterior lock section 11928
and it matches up with a replacement part
ordered from RVparts in orange county, hopefully arrives on Monday

the lock tumblers are worn out
the key will not operate the dead bolt, even with the inside plate removed

after locking with key....the door latch tumbler does not want to unlock with key,
the tumbler/key turns, but does not engage the mechanism , takes 5 minutes fiddling to get it to open

Why do you need to replace it?

A common issue at least with Tri-Mark locks is the striker bolt. (The snap lock) the highest stress on the bolt is at the weakest point and the cheap pot metal simply snaps. Now the spring holds the door latched and you can not open it (Well there is a way but it's not an approved way).

I have had a machinest carve me one out of high grade steel.. IN fact 3 different machinests (since the basement uses the same bolts)

The first one did some basement bolts.. Made 'em 2 piece and I had to re-assemble the 2 pieces. Still in use

The 2nd one my door i had to do a bit more machining

The third is Seneca Machining in Seneca SC. He made me 5 Basement bolts (40 bucks since they involve both machine work and hand work) They are works of beauty. I had to do nothing to them to make 'em fit and I expect them to fail NEVER.. They are that good.

If you contact him and can send him the old bolt.. OR someone like him closer to you... Man did very good work.

Most major cities have a metal smith like Seneca Machining.
  • That is a TriiMark and IIRC they don't make them any longer. I have an '02 with the same lock. Call Trimark, they will sell you either a new one like that or a replacement. I have repaired mine and repainted it, it looks pretty good.

You can Google the model, number is inside the back plate I think. Lots of stuff out there for that one. Lichtsinn has a lot of stuff for Winnies and that may be in their stock.
  • well the RV is 1997 Bounder

i'm sure this 'entry lock' is discontinued

but need something that fits the same hole or nearly so
may have to cut some surface plates if the new on is too small
  • Probably best bet is to remove screws on inside, then open it up and look for a brand name or model number. Kinda looks like a TriMark on the outside, but I do not see anything like it on their webpage. But they do not show much of the inside handles.
  • Following this thread because I have the same one.
