- kampinguruExplorerI use the Fumoto valve on my F250. I get underneath with 4 empty gallon oil bottles and turn the valve and drain right into the empty jug. When the jug is full, I turn it off, put the lid on the full one and get another empty one and hold it under the valve and open it again. Repeat until all the oil is drained.
- VintageRacerExplorerI use a Rubbermaid tote as the drain pan, and pump or pour it back into the 5 gallon pails it comes in. I use a pail and a half per change, so I have a spare pail so I have two to put in the back of the truck to take to the transfer station, where I just pour it into the waste oil container. I would have a hard time picking a 7 gallon container up to pour it out, so this works for me just fine.

I think you mean Fumoto..right? In any case, do you remember the correct drain hole size?
thanks

I like this idea... and the Fumoto valve would be good using the two 5-gal containers I already have.
thanks
Ron - ScottGNomadTo use the tote, I would think the oil would have to be cool. I'm thinking that if it was hot the tote would get so limp it may be difficult to handle.

Not the answer you wanted, but the easiest is to use two 5 gallon buckets moving the first one when only half full so it's easy to slide the second one into postion. With the half full one under the filter, punch a hole in the bottom of the filter and come back in an hour when it and the engine are finished draining..
I thought about that, but I don't know if my jacks will raise the back of the coach that high. I'll have to check it out.
thanks,
RonWhy not use one of those waste totes folks use for grey/blackwater? Just wash it out with some good grease-cutting soap like Dawn afterwards if you're concerned about "contamination" of the tote.
And it's easy to transport for dumping at an "approved site", assuming that's where it's going.
If I had one, this would probably be a good idea. Not sure how I could direct the oil flowing out of the engine's pan into the tote's inlet hole. But, I think the tote is a little too expensive to be used in this manner. Thanks for the idea.
Ron - rv2goExplorer III use a plastic tote that is large enough. I then place a large garbage bag in the tote. I make sure that the full tote will be on a surface smooth enough that I can pull it from under the MH. I then use a small 12volt pump to pump the oil back into the gallon containers. When thru, I remove the oily garbage bag and the tote is as clean as new.
- JamesBrExplorerWith my old ISC I used this drain pan. The only issue I had was it was about 1" too tall, so I had to lower the rear jacks just a bit to get the ground clearance. But it had a nice big area for taking down the oil filter and its near 1 gallon capacity. It has plugs for the drain and vent, so it was no problem for me to cart it to the waste oil dropoff and pour it from that container.
