Duo Therm Brisk Air II

started having issued with my coleman mach 3 13500 btu roof top ac unit on my jayco octane toy hauler. it is a 2007 model. the blower motor went out, and now the compressor will not start. when I turn it on I can hear the compressor humming, and it pulls the voltage down to around 85v. this has never happened before. usually the voltage only drops 10v-15v when the compressor kicks on.
So with all of this said I was thinking of replacing the ac with a new duo therm brisk air II 15000 btu unit. my old unit has always been borderline during the hot summer months here in se texas. can anyone give me some feedback on the duo therm units? I know domitec makes them but have never owned one myself. ppl has them on sale right now for $499 which is several hundred cheaper than other comparable brands. I have thought about fixing my old unit but by the time I buy a new blower $150, and possibly a compressor then I could have bought this bigger unit and had a new ac. also with a new one I can install it with a wall thermostat so my wife can reach the controls.

  • UPDATE: purchased the duo therm brisk air II from ppl in Houston, tx. they had a sale price of $499 for the ac unit and sale price for the non ducted roof controls for around $75. installed it and everything is working fine. I will say the highest fan speed (#3) is slightly louder than my coleman two speed fan, but man does it blow! lol now just waiting for all of the rain to stop and for us to habe one of those sweltering hot se tx days to see how it really performs.
  • 1. You cannot buy a Compressor, They are not a replaceable part from both RVP and Dometic.
    2. Both the Dometic and RVP are comparable in output. If you can get a better price on the Dometic then go with it
    3. If you buy the Dometic, you will have to also purchase the Interior Mount kit AND The control kit and tstat. ADD that to your cost and see if the Dometic still is the better price. Doug
