Electrical issue

Started my 97 holiday rambler le and the instrument lights head lights and marker lights were going off and on by themself
  • Sounds like a bad ground. Are the turn signals or the 4 way flashers going on and off too? When the lights flash on are they at full brightness?

Follow the ground wire and see if the connection to ground is corroded, or broken.

You have an overload on the headlight/marker circuit which is tripping the auto reset breaker.

Not sure about what chassis you have but Ford typically had a auto reset circuit breaker built on to the headlight switch for years.

Start assessing how many marker lights you have, the bulbs in the lights and even check the headlight bulbs (someone may have put too high of a wattage bulbs in)..

Ran into that with my Dads 1980 Ford where he put higher wattage headlights in and it worked fine until he hooked a trailer to the truck.. The result was blinking lights..

To fix that I built a headlight relay kit for high and low beams, with the headlights powered via relays no more blinking lights!

Reread your post, is the headlights turning on without you turning them on?
