It's just that the first curve's time is shortened before the curve goes "vertical". It's an incomplete curve because the author wanted to emphasize high-current and short duration breaker triggers. Don't let that fool you!

You're right however I needed to reread my own post before replying to you. I didnt have an issue with the 100% mark, just the absoluteness of it. they may blow at 100% or at some value higher than that. It's reason for the banded area, variability.
