Eternabond Tape on Roof / Gutter Rail Seam

Has anyone used Eternabond tape to seal the top edge seams of their trailer where the rubber roof meets the aluminum gutter rail? I am talking about a rubber roof that wraps over the top edge and meets a screw cover / aluminum gutter rail at the top of the sidewall.

My questions are:

1. Would you leave the plastic trim piece that covers the screws in place and tape right over it or should it be removed and the tape placed right on the screw heads?

2. How far down would you extend the tape? Right down into the bottom of the gutter channel?

3. Would the tape adhere properly on an uneven surface like this?

If anyone has pictures of this application they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  • The video shows the rail being removed and then reinstalled over top of the eternabond tape.

I'm talking about applying the etape over top of the metal rail and screws to seal the joint.

I'd be afraid to remove all the screws at the same time from the joint for fear something would shift and never go back togther right or fall apart altogether.

Yes and look thru the pics in the link in my signature. That work was done back in Spring 2008 over 7 years ago and all that Eternabond is stuck like I applied it yesterday. Three critical keys is to get the surface hospital clean, do not stretch/pull the Eternabond, but lay it naturally on the surface, and roll it out with a seam roller to properly activate the micro sealant.

  • I used it for my roof/gutter seam and it workers great. I laid it over the rail with the plastic strip still in place low enough to go over the strip completely but not blocking gutters useful ness.
