EV Charging station & RV use

When folks come home in cold weather the last thing they do is plug in the block heater. Since our society refused to adapt from 9 to 5 jobs--there is a tremendous load. But the grid seems to not fall over very often.

No worse actually than coming home on that hot summer day and all 600,000 turn on their A/C at the same time. The utilities are actually eager to supply all the transportation energy.

Speaking of air coolers,
Ive seen these in every hotel room in Japan,mounted high near the ceiling and that fan outside..
Never seen these anywhere in Canada,wonder why?

Is it some kind of heat pump or what?

Not sure what area is 100% coal but it is soon dropping to 25% in the US. Virtually zero in Calif.

Existing panels are probably fine. I assume a condo is separately metered. Just add a 20 amp or 30 amp 240v circuit to each panel and plug the cars in.

Never mind a place like California, Ontario Canada has 600,000 condo units, if only HALF of them added just a single 20 amp charge circuit and plugged in at 6pm after getting home from work........

300,000 units at 20 amps on 220 volt, equals 1,320,000 kilowatts.

Even here in Ontario, the land of hydro-electricity’s birth, the grid is maxed out on hot days. Add that much more load and start lighting candles. Oh, wait, EV’s don’t charge off candles.

I plan on only level 1 charging. I know from careful record keeping that I rarely drive even 30 miles a day. I can easily meet that with 8 hours of level 1 per day.

Imagine how clean the air would be when this jam of vehicles is all electric. BTW EV is very efficient in this type of traffic.

UNDERGROUND UTILITIES are usually sized 200% of theoretical kWh. How many hours did you say a recharge takes?

CLEAN AIR. You bet! Fewer cars on the road. Dinosaur eaters or electrical powered.

If I had gone into commercial trawler design with the wild assumptions I see about EV use, my skeleton would have been found just beyond the three mile limit with an anchor clamped to my ankle.
