- JamesBrExplorerHad a fan fail in a friends converter. took it apart, measured the fan, and found a replacement computer fan that matched the specs. He has been running on the new fan for 4 years now.

Thanks. Yu da man. Now it's time to crawl back in and get a measurement. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerTry and recover the OEM name and model number of the junk that is to be replaced, and post it. It would be nice to know which land mine is to be carefully stepped around.

- j-dExplorer IISeems the Ball-Bearing Computer Fans are the ones to get, especially if they are mounted in other than a vertical position. Still, I got a few years out of a cheap pair of 92mm fans used on outside fridge coils. That's essentially outdoors and most of our camping is near beaches.

North L.A. area should be overnight to Palm Springs (= 70 miles)
Only fans that seems to last down here are ball-bearing type. Check to see if fan is two wire or three wire type. Exact dimensions are critical including thickness.
Jaja. The last Teton I worked on had so much insulation I think a person could stick a chainsaw in there and it would be hard to hear. - Matt_ColieExplorer IITO: wa8yxm
Sorry John, RS does not sell over the counter anymore and the order department is very unfriendly to non-industrial accounts.
You know Purchase has closed (years ago), so it is now tough for a small shop to even effectively buy parts on short notice.
Matt - John___AngelaExplorerThanks for the replys. I'll check rad shack. The problem is when the unit is under heavy load (big Teton homes 5th with lots of lights and two furnaces) the fan doesn't come on and unit starts to sporadically cut out. Reduce load, allow to cool and all is well. The fan is very very tight.
Thanks again.
