- phaysExplorerAs robatthelake says. Go up on the roof with a small wrench. Sorry, I don't remember the size so take several or good pair of pliers. Have the fan turned on and slightly tighten the mounting nut for the plunger switch. If electrical contact at the switch is corroded the fan should start running. KEEP your finger out of the way of the fan blade.
The last time my fan acted this way, I loosened the nut and used contact cleaner to improve the connection. - robatthelakeExplorerThe usual Problem is that Plunger Switch up on the Roof! They are Stainless Steel ,but there are parts nearby that develop a crusty rust coloured ,sticky ,gooey build up that prevents the Switch to POP Up!
I get up and clean and lubricate that switch several times each Year! - cochise49ExplorerOurs has a automotive glass fuse holder visible on the fan unit by the switches. Check that too if yours has one.
- Roger10378Explorer IIMany have a three position switch for moving air in-off-out. In the center off position no motor. In and out control the direction the fan turns. This is in addition to the speed and plunger switches.
- bgumExplorerIf it has one WD 40 the little plunger switch. It may be stuck.
- dahkotaExplorerOur Kitchen fan has 2 switches - one on the fan, the other next to the kitchen sink. Our bathroom fantastic fan has two switches - one on the fan, one on the bathroom wall.
Our previous rig had an aftermarket fantastic fan installed in the bedroom. It had a thermostat, an on/off switch, and a fan speed switch. The fan speed switch had to be on at least 1. The on/off switch had to be on. The thermostat had to be set high enough for the fan motor to run. - aslaksonExplorerOurs has a thermostat on the wall above the sink . . . plus there's an on-off switch on the fan itself. And when you open the fan, there's a switch that turns it on as the top goes up.
It's an older model - doesn't have a remote or anything fancy.
al - IvylogExplorer IIISome have a push switch that turns it off when it closes and they sometimes loose their ground. Cleaning where it mounts often will fix it or the switch could be bad. Others have a temperature knob but it does not sound like you have that. Fantastic is good about sending replacement parts for FREE.
