Fixed!!! Norcold AC Heater Element

TIP:

It doesn't stay up in that sleeve by itself. It's best to remove enough insulation to see the end of the element and the attachment wires. My Norcold had a clamp.

It should just slide out of sleeve......could be stuck due to stop bead being shoved down into sleeve or rusty
Wiggle it back and forth to loosen....then pull up out of sleeve.

Thanks for the replays. I will go back and pull on it a little harder. I just wanted to make sure I was not going to break anything.

The element is (or at least looks like) stainless steel but the tube it slides into is not. I changed one where rust had a grip on it.

I used needle nose pliers on mine and wiggled it back and forth about an 1/8 in at a time. It took a long time to get it out due to rust in the holder. If I remember correctly I also had to pry up on the bottom with another tool at the same time. Before I installed the new element I cleaned the holder with steel wool and emery paper. The new one went in easy. Don't be afraid to apply force are going to throw the old one away anyway.

After much twisting and banging on it with a hammer I got the element out. Any suggestions on how to clean the rust out of the sheath before installing new element?

Emory cloth and or steel wool.

Inside the tube? Not sure how to get it down into the tube.

I used emery inside the tube rolled into a tube and worked it up and down. The new tube slid in easy. Good luck. I think the new one was 425 watts. If you could find a higher wattage one it would heat better.
