My 2KW EU2000i was purchased from Mayberrys in 2008...
I have good luck just running some STA-BILL or SEA FOAM through it a couple of times added to the fuel tank every now and then...
My Honda is secured to the tailgate gate of my covered and locked truck bed so it gets bounced around when I am driving. This probably helps me from building up too much Corn Syrup sludge...
Even as old as my 2KW is it usually starts on the first or second pull on the cord... The only maintenance I have ever done is change the oil once a year... Being in the my truck bed it it gets used alot for little things being so handy to get to...
When I first started using my Honda 2KW I was out camping and got my generator out on the tailgate to use it and it would only run for a few minutes and they die off.. I'd finally get it started again and same just a few minutes then die..
I right away thought it was bad gas so dumped my gas and added fresh - had same thing - only run about five minutes... A couple of campers came by and offered advice... Then one guy came came along and said "having problems huh" He looked for minute and said I can fix this for you for $50... I commented "yeal sure..." He looked back at me and said crank it now... I did so and it fired right up - we talked for about ten minutes and it was still running...
He said "I believe it is going now..." I said "check will be in the mail haha" He went merrily on his way...
The problem was I had left the gas cap vent knob in the closed position... geesch...
