I think everyone that has Hehr frameless dual pane windows suffers from the "foggy window syndrome" sooner or later. We've replaced several of ours and . . . . you guessed it, now they've fogged again. As I research better solutions, I've read very good things about repairs done by Suncoast Designers in Hudson, FL. They take the dual pane windows apart, clean them, rebuild them and give a 10-year pro-rated warranty.There is a company in Sebring Florida called Darren Thomas Glass Company that is replacing fogged dual pane windows with a single pane laminated safety glass It is guaranteed to NEVER fog, but I wonder about (1) windows sweating when the temps are cold outside and it's warm inside and (2)noise and temperature control that these provide compared to the dual pane windows. Has anyone replaced dual pane windows with the laminated windows and can comment on the sweating, noise control, and temp control of the laminate solution?Thanks for comments on either of these solutions.

I'm having it done at Boyd's Glass in St Augustine,Fl on Mon. As we spend most all of our time in warm places,I think single pane is the way to go.I'd rather put up with sweating windows than foggy ones.

A friend has a DVR with duals. Had to replace the rear twice. Guy that replaced it said he wouldn't own RV dual windows. Single is going in if another fogs up.Need to start a post "I love my single pane windows" that ought to be entertaining for a couple of weeks LOL

While the dual windows can be a real pain, we wouldn't be without them. They not only provide much more thermal insulation against heat or cold, they also provide a lot of sound insulation. We immediately noticed a vast difference between our prior coach with single panes and our current dual paned one. We are not bothered by nearby trains or campers near as much with our current coach.We did have three of our windows repaired by Suncoast Designs last week. While expensive, they were less expensive than new windows and have a much better warranty. Suncoast is very professional and do a great job. They also count both sliding windows as one window when pricing. In other words, everything inside the frame is counted as one window. They charged us 250 per window (removal, repair, install and leak check) and we had one window where the glass had become etched and required replacement at 25 per pane. They have free water and 50 amp electric sites for you to stay in while they do the job which takes about two days. There were 21 coaches there during our stay, so they are very busy this time of year.

We have noticed that if it gets below 40 at night, the windshield will have condensation. So do a few of our double pane windows when it gets colder. The replaced single pane will probably have condensation if you are in an area that gets colder at night.

The 2008 rig we had before this one had the Hehr frameless windows that were not dual pane. They sweat something awful . . . water would run down the insides of the windows on days when the outside temps dipped pretty low and the inside was warm and cozy. So when we ordered our new rig (same brand and model), we specified the dual pane windows.

As disappointed as I am in the seal issues with the dual pane windows, I still want them. It's so nice not to have the sweaty windows. I guess if you camp in areas where the temps don't change that much, then this isn't an issue . . . but it was for us.

It's frustrating that the window manufacturers aren't held accountable for better quality. If 3rd party companies can fix the problem with "whatever" technique, the orig manufacturer should be able to use the same technique to improve their manufacturing process.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I don't have dual pane windows, nor would I spend the kind of extra money most RV manufacturers get for them.

Dual pane windows are not argon gas filled windows like you would have in your house. Sealed units in a residential or commercial application do have huge R values.

Having dual pane windows on an RV boils down to the same thing as slapping a storm window over your existing window. You are getting two non-sealed pieces of glass that will eventually allow moisture inside of them, which you can not get out yourself.

Will an extra piece of thin glass on all your windows cut down on some noise? Yes it will. Will an extra piece of thin glass help on heating/cooling? A little bit maybe. Is an extra piece of thin glass worth $1,200 to $1,800 extra on an RV? IMHO no way.

21 coaches there during your two day stay, that tells me some window companys have created a never ending way to make money.

When the side windows fog the view of the rear view mirrors or the view beside your coach, that is when it becomes a safety hazard & should never be something the RV owner has to deal with, but yet everybody just goes to get them fixed on their own dime.
Am I missing something here, this is a safety hazard folks & your just passing it by like its nothing.
There should be a recall industry wide.

We have an appointment with Suncoast Designs in January. Because we have the Hehr frameless windows, the cost quoted was $450 for a window with both a large pane and a crank out below it. $300 for the big part and $150 for the crank out part. I will be a happy camper be if their fix really lasts for 10 years!

Thermopane,dual pane,or whatever you'd like to call them,I view them as just a "pain".I've had fifth wheels,towables,class C and A...all had leaking windows,that I had to replace.No noticeable sound difference on the ride home. I try not to camp next to trains.

RV windows are NOT thermopane. thermopane windows are a proprietary name and are high quality, RV windows are not.

Well I had it done today and the two windows I changed to single pane windows at Boyd;s St Augustine,Fl are great,cost was $424 and a great job. One other thought...your windshield is not thermopane so why do you need thermopane side windows? I personally do not intend to camp in cold weather and if I did,I guess I could insulate windows with bubble wrap.
