I had a 1989 E350 with a 460 and had similar problem that turned out to be the one or both of the O2 sensors that caused the catalytic convertor to break down and plug up. when this happened the whole underside of the rv got super hot and blistered paint on the body. Also pressure would build up like crazy in the gas tank and at one point the propane tank pressure valve would blow off.
