Gen-turi for hydro hot

Does anyone know if you can use a Gen-turi or other exhaust reroute for the hydro hot or aqua hot systems. I hate have to always wait for my neighbors to leave or go inside before I take a long shower. Just don't want to gas them out!!
Thanks
  • RandandDoug, Thanks for your thoughtfulness for your neighbors. I too was concerned. I contacted Vehicle Systems and was told although they don't recommend a Gen-turi, it will not hurt the system. I have used mine for going on 7 years now with no problems. I wish it was mandatory use for Aqua/Hydro Hot and generators (at some NASCAR events it is for generators). I was at an FMCA rally where my neighbors Hydro Hot blew right at my front door. He said "deal with it". I won't say how I dealt with it when I left.
  • Thanks for the responses. I was not aware of the issue till I bought the moho, but it bugs me that I would bug neighbors. I often will wait to take a shower till they are gone or inside. Still would, but if in a jam would maybe feel a little better at least trying to be polite.
It doesn't bother me if someone runs their generator, aqua-hot, has barking dogs and screaming cats outside by the cedar fire started with diesel, but that's just me. I actually find it interesting to see just how far some go out of their way to be annoying. Especially the dog poop, that is just amazing to me. But that same guy will whine about ten minutes of diesel smell while you sit their and clean his dogs poop off of your shoes.
That may seem like I am ranting, but I'm really not, my wife thinks I am some kind of idiot with some of the things I come inside laughing about, this stuff makes my day.
Wonder what that says about her. hahahaha
    Thanks guys.
  • It will work fine. Be prepared to use adapters or replace the pipe with a larger size to fit your exhaust as the genny one is usually smaller. I also use a couple of the HF suction cups in lieu of the brackets supplied. I use one 90 going to the rear to clear a baggage door before going vertical with another, no clamps.

I was wondering about that, as well. We were told NOT to use a Genturi on the genny exhaust pipe as it would not support the weight. The Aqua-Hot exhaust looks pretty much the same.

Like you, I try to be considerate of the neighbors -unless they're having a big, smokey campfire in which case it's "game on". ;) I also look for sites with no one close on the driver's side.

Ours AH seemed too loud and the smell seemed so overly strong that I had an RV tech check it this week. He (and his supervisor) both stated that's just the way these units are.

Actually, if you use the side mount as intended, there will be very little weight on the pipe. If you still think it's too much, you need to add an additional hanger/clamp.

  • I've seen several people use them and I wish everyone would. That's especially true when they are parked next to me.

I made two of them for my generator and my AquaHot. I also have metal sweeps (90) that I use on the generator and AquaHot as unless is fairly windy just getting the exhaust headed up is enough.

Had to cut two slits in the generator exhaust so I can clamp the sweep as it wants to rotate downward.

Most of the weight is supported by the suction cup and metal arm. Total cost $18 for alum gutter down spout and suction cup.
