Generator runs no power in coach

Hi, 2014 thor freedom elite. Generator starts up, no problem. However, there is no power in coach. AC , microwave, etc. will not run. I reset the line circuit breaker on the generator. Onan RV QG 4000
Still nothing. AC will run fine with shore power.
Suggestions??
  • Tye and Linda,

How long have you owned this coach?
Do you know for a fact that the automatic transfer switch was included? (It is usually an option.)
If it was, then it is probably failed.
If it was not, you probably need to plug the shore power cord into the generator outlet.

  • Matt, We've had this coach for 2 yrs. every month we run the generator with a load. It has worked everytime until now.
  • probably the transfer switch isnt switching the power to the generator.

Do you have a large inverter... 1500+ watts? If so reset the push circuit breakers on it.
  • you need to find your owners manual, and look inside. Normally, it is there.
Other option, Do a web search for Thor forum.
Try IRV2, for a specific forum for your rv.
  • The transfer switch is often located near the AC electric panel inside the RV. (It might not hurt to check the breakers there if you haven't already, besides the one on the generator that you have checked). Both the shore power cord and the generator power cable would go to the transfer switch, and its output to the AC electric panel.

On my particular motorhome, the transfer switch is actually bolted onto the back of the electrical center chassis.
  • Also check to see if the main breaker in the breaker panel in the RV has tripped.
