- TEXASExplorerbecworth. As I said not picking on you. You have a spec D unit. Which is different than a spec A unit. That is why we need to know what you have.
So does it shut down on a smooth road or does it matter.
Does it stutter before it shuts down or just shuts down.
How is your gas supply. Should be over a quarter of a tank.
Try unplugging the remote control wires. If it then runs ok. You have a short in the wiring.
Try and remember how it acts before it shuts down. - SCClockDrExplorer

It keeps shutting off while driving and there is plenty of gas. Any suggestions? Also, it was just serviced. (oil, filters, etc)
While the unit was just serviced the oil level may still be a tad low. That does not suggest poor service, just a bit less than optimum for running while underway. As the unit gets subjected to normal road forces the low oil sensor may go dry intermittently. Just a small bit more oil should cure it. Too much and the air filter could get soaked, the over/under band is a bit narrow.
Go slow adding a few ounces @ a time. Make a note of the oil level once you get it sorted. - becworthExplorer

From all the questions, I guess no one knows. I'm waiting for someone to ask what color the gen is...and ask for pictures.
Well that would help. Telling us he has a 5000 Onan does us no good. Is it a CCK,NH,BG or what. Not picking on this poster. But this is why most of the guys that know generators left the site. People asking for help and not telling us what they have. Full model and serial helps a lot.
We have not asked for help on this site before and did not know that you would need model # and serial # to get advice on what could be the problem with a gas generator.

Check the oil level. Low oil, as stated by Bobbo, can cause exactly the same problem as what you are seeing...
Will check. We thought that couldn't possibly be the problem since we just had it changed at a dealer (also no puddles under the RV), but then again, who knows??!!
Thanks for all the good suggestions. Probably won't be able to get back to try all the good suggestions till the weekend, we'll post when we get it figured out. - SkiingSixPackExplorerCheck the oil level. Low oil, as stated by Bobbo, can cause exactly the same problem as what you are seeing...
- becworthExplorerThis is a gas genset. Forgot to include this info in previous post. DH corrected me that it is a 5500 Onan and according to the specs that it should be able to run 2 AC's. Also, the cover is black, LOL!!
- becworthExplorerNo, we were only trying to run one AC and there were no other appliances that were on.

Sorry, guess we should have included what we're trying to fix. We have a 2007 Monaco Monarch 34ft, pulling a 2005 Saturn w/ a 5000 Onan GenSet. Also, my DH reminded me that we did stop for lunch and the genset stopped while we were parked. I had forgotten that. Thanks again for all the help.
Are you trying to run two air conditioners on a 5k gen set? they will trip off under that overload. - wganderExplorerFrom all the questions, I guess no one knows. I'm waiting for someone to ask what color the gen is...and ask for pictures.
