2016 Forest River Stealth WA2916 Toy Hauler.I have towed total 3500 miles in the 2 years I’ve owned it. I decided to follow the LCI video (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s34pBejcQn0) and grease these bad boys up.I was planning to add grease until the old grease came out. I was surprised how much grease it took. Almost 1/3 of a tube before I saw any coming out. I then went to about 1/2 totalto squeeze out some old grease. I wiped it all clean and repeated the other 4.Is this typical? I expected a few pumps thinking that they’d have more in them. Also, I used Lucas Oil - Red & Tacky #2. It doesn’t say RV or trailer but it has a high drop point and good reviews. Yes, it takes a lot of grease to fill the center of the hub enough for it to then flow out thr front.Personally, I would never use that system again but that's another thread I guess.

Sounds like essentially the same as my EZ Lube axles. And yes it does take a lot of grease to completely purge the axle of old grease. EZ Lube manual listed several recommended greases. Don't remember if that was one or not.

At the factory, they pack the bearings correctly and don't bother with trying to fill the entire system with grease. So, there's a lot of air to displace. Plus, there's all that grease that gets pushed past the seal and is now contaminating your brakes.Seriously, to even attempt using a super-lube type system, you need to get the axles and hubs really warm (drive around dragging the brakes), let the grease cartridge sit in a bucket of really hot water for a half hour, then pump it in very slowly while spinning the wheel/hub. Otherwise, you're probably contaminating the brakes and making it a bigger job than just doing a hand repack in the first place. But, if it's time for the bearings to get new grease, then they also need to be inspected, which can't happen unless you take stuff apart.Super-lube systems are a gimmick for anything except a boat trailer.

LCI axles are prone to low temp grease and LACK of adequate grease. We have a Warranty Forever program at our dealership and that requires that once a year the customer must pay for Axle inspection and bearing inspection. I would bet 10 percent of the LCI axles require new bearings on the units we do(hundreds), due to lack of grease and not adequate hi temp grease. LCI does pay warranty when we find it on the first year. Regardless, ALL towables need the axles and bearings manually checked the FIRST year to prevent problems later on. Doug

They are pretty now, packed nicely and good to go.
Later this week I'll do the left side when I got 2 hours free to drive over, do it, drive home.

There is an old mechanics trick for removing the seal without damage.

Remove the outer spindle nut and washer, and bearing. Leave the drum on the spindle. Carefully reinstall the nut, and carefully pull the drums outer race over the nut. Once passed the race, give the drum a firm jerk. The drum will come off, leaving the nut on the spindle along with the inner bearing and seal. I do this even though I most always replace the seals as it is the easiest way to do it.

Comparing the current crop of cheap Chinese bearings to the automotive bearings used for many decades is a fools game. Pumping excess grease in is nonsense.

I would never put any trailer, (new or used) in service before completely cleaning, inspecting and servicing the hubs and brakes. Better yet, toss the cheap bearings and replace with Timkens.

In PA, the brakes are state inspected once a year by pulling the drum. All that extra grease would make quite a mess. Following the state inspection the drum will need to be pulled again to correct the problems caused by the inspection, like wrong grease, dirty grease, poor bearing adjustment and contaminated brake shoes. Yes, I have been there.

Propper way to grease any bearing is remove, clean, inspect and repack. Install new seal and be done.

Your tow vehicle has greased front bearings. There is no super duper lube system for that and they roll hundreds of thousand of miles.

No clue. Good info guys. I watched videos on pulling both bearings and it sounds easy enough. I am going to look up part numbers for the bearings , races, seals. I’m going out this coming weekend and I’ll probably look at pulling everything inspecting the bearings and races and doing brand new seals every time. It could be that everything is perfectly good to go but who knows. I’ll find out more later

Hope you didn't blow any grease past your rear seal and onto your brake pads. I have the same hubs and I don't fill it up. When the trailer was two years old I repacked the bearings. I found that whoever packed the bearings at the factory used plenty of grease. I cleaned and repacked the bearings and they've been fine. Again, I don't fill up the hub, no need to.

They will. Greasing every year is totally unnecessary. What you were doing did no good or harm.
Reallity is, the same kind of bearings have been used in cars for 75+ years. They usually only got repacked when brakes were replaced. I've pulled hubs out of junkyards that were 50 years old and never had grease changed. Bearings were still serviceable.
THis yearly stuff is CYA stuff. A check of brakes and bearing condition is all that is needed. If they're still tight and smooth then they're good for another year. Or ten.
