hard wired my converter in but not sure of polarity

I hard wired my new converter into my Magnetek 7345. It fit right into the lower opening. Everything is running great. But my question is this. I believe when I cut the plug off and wired it into the box I got the polarity right but not 100 percent sure. The three wire cord had a green in the middle and both just black insulated on either side. My question is will this cause a problem if it is backwards. If so what type of problem. Like I said everything is running properly it appears but what should I know that I don't? I realized at the time the big blade is neutral, but I just wasn't sure when I hooked it up.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dave

Here is a schematic of a similar WFCO 8700 series wiring using BLACK-GREEN-WHITE colors - might help

The BLACK goes to the Circuit breaker connection.
The GREEN wire eventually goes to frame ground.
The WHITE WIRE goes to floating NEUTRAL (NOT GROUNDED)

  • Okay I am going to be looking for ribs or markings this morning. I did read up a little bit on this, and correct me if I am wrong. In this particular application isn't it really a non consequence if the polarity is switched or did I miss understand something?

On some cords, instead of a rib on one wire, it will have the wire size and specifications running down the neutral side.

every one i have wired had a black green and white wire and i have wired tones of them

I have wired several myself. This cord did not have this. Like I said it had a green insulated wire in the middle the two outside wires are sheathed in black insulation. I believe I did get it right just not sure and curious as to any problem this could cause. Of course the green wire is grounded.
