I have only used 50 amp service with my 2004 Monaco. I am somewhere that only has 30 amp service and I am having trouble. My batteries keep going dead. Was trying to run fridge and hot water, NO AC. Is there something I need to do? I have never had problems while on 50 amp service. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Force the water heater and refer to gas then you should be able to run one AC. As for the battery going dead? No clue except to ask how old is the battery? Get out your volt meter and check them. Converter should be putting out approx 13.5 volts as measured at the battery

Electricity is nowhere near my expertise. This is what I would try....Do you currently have a neighbor? If not, and your cord is long enough, maybe try to connect to that site and check to see if the symptoms are the same. If you have a neighbor and they are abiding,ask if they may disconnect and let you try their power post. May give you an indication that the pigtail has failed, or you just have a bum site??? Just throwing out some guesses. Hope it works out somehow!

I have a Monaco. It has priority when I plug into 30 amp Vs 50 amp. It decides what it wants to run. That is compounded by some of these RV parks advertise 30 or 50 amps and they don't supply anywhere near that amount. I was in SW WA and plugged into 50 amp and blew the breaker with one A/C on. The owner replaced the breaker and I could run both but the voltage was very low. When he opened up the box it was wired with what looked like #12 wire. Once the MH cooled down I only ran one A?C. I was only there 1 night. Have you had problems in other RV parks?

Check your energy management system. Make sure it is seeing the type of service you are connected to.You may have to manual select the 30 amp service.

Make sure your power converter is getting mains power.

When running on 50Amp service, half of the electrical equipment runs on one phase and the other stuff runs on the other phase.

Some of the adapters only connect half of the RV circuits to the 30Amp service.

If the converter/inverter/charger is on the wrong phase, it's not getting power and therefore it is not charging the battery bank.

I understand this. But, As I mentioned, IF you have NO 120 TO the Inverter or a faulty Inverter and the Inverter is ON, then you will drain the coach batteries. The fact you are on 50 or 30 or 15 amp service has no bearing on the Inverter/CHARGER functioning, regardless of any EMS system. Doug

But why did it start working only after batteries were charged? Something was not allowing the electricity to where it needed to go?

Also, I am sure the batteries will not hills a charge for long now. I currently have 4 interstate gc2 xhd ut batteries. I believe they are 6 volt. Should I stick with something like that or could you recommend any? Thanks for your help.

Like Doug said, most of the CONTROL electronics uses 12V from the batteries.

The confusion still has not been cleared up. I am currently running just fine on 30 amps. One AC is running, fridge, hot water. Once I filled the batteries with water and allowed my system to charge them, via the 30 amp service, everything has been working fine. Nothing worked except via the generator before that, or via 50 amp service. Why is that, if the batteries have nothing to do with how things operate when I am plugged in?

To make sure everyone understands, I had the correct dogbone adapter and was getting the correct amperage from the pole. I have done nothing but add water to the batteries and let them charge. Everything is now working perfectly.

I can run both on 30 amp and they are not highly efficient units. The issue is both cannot start their compressor at the same time as the spike will overload the 30 amp. But if they are humming along together I can usually get away with them running for a short bit, but eventually something like the fridge or the converter picks up load and the rear AC will get shed by the EMS.

Unfortunately I can't see what the kids are doing as I'm tied up with my Uncle Sam over seas right now. The rig is an older 1995 Southwind so she's 30amps, but knowing they have my 3 little grandkids in there with them, I'm sure they are drawing juice because everything will be turned on :(. They have learned running just one and directing the vents is better than nothing :)

Does your EMS go to 0 when you turn off the generator or does it go out? Because if you are running on 30 and where drawing 15amp, it should stay at 15 after the generator is off and you are plugged in.

The one item I can note is that the EMS does not like it when some breakers are off. If I am running on 20 or 30amp and I have any breakers off the EMS gets very upset and wont show the amp draw.
