Propane is Propane. Butane is Butane. Different gases. The ONLY place now that Butane is readily available is Mexico. There used to be Butane available in south Texas in the warmer months of the year, but not now. I believe almost all USA retailers have dropped Butane. Maybe Canada has Butane, but doubful as Butane does not vaporize well at lower temps which Canada has. Butane does have MORE energy than Propane, but the result in a RV is negliable. The main disadvantage of Butane is it does not vaporize as well in colder climates. HOW would you determine if Canadian LP is BETTER than USA LP???????????????????? Furnaces heat, thats all. Are you taking heat exhaust temps or something else????? What is your training to make such a statement? Doug

Do you have access to check your ductwork? The factory installed mine cheaply and poorly. The majority of my heat was leaking out through unsealed and partially disconnected joints into the basement. Once I fixed the ducts under the floor, the heat coming out of the vents is enough to roast my feet off!

No, Butane has MORE BTU's per gallon than propane.

The main issue with Butane is its high boiling point: 32 degrees F vs -44 degrees F for propane.

As someone who has worked on LP systems for 34 years, I have never seen a regulator jam. I HAVE seen the new hand type twist pigtails FAIL----All the time. Doug

There is no such thing as "resetting" a RV LP regulator. What you outlined would be because the short Pigtails from the DOT tanks to the LP regulator have "jammed". Releasing the pressure in your scenario will allow the Hi pressure pigtails to indeed reset. Doug

Thanks. As I said, I could not claim that this would work on an RV system. I just thought it was worth a shot and not too hard to try.

Just bought a new regulator. Only $35 so I was surprised. Will replace tomorrow and see what happens.
