Backwashing from the tank drain won't help if it is clogged in the pipe before the tank..
My advice is to get one of those devices (found here) that you connect to a garden hose and then stick into the pipe. With water pressure, the device will expand and seal off the pipe forcing the water down the pipe. Usually the water pressure will push the clog on down into the tank.
