So here is what happened. 50 amp service, cord is hard wired into the transfer switch. Wires inside the transfer switch loosened at the post and shorted together. Vehicle will power up with generator but not shore power. Vehicle is unpluged and he is running off of battery power (with a charger on the batteries) enough to keep the heat on and hot water. He will have the new transfer switch by Tuesday (obsolete but found one on Ebay) and it will be installed on Thursday by the professional who diagnosed it. TV and Microwave appear to be the only victims. Thanks again! Buddha
OR, inside the ATS one of the hots shorted to the neutral.
As I have posted for years, it is an excellent idea to check the tightness of all connections in the ATS and breaker box as part of the annual inspection.
