I finally had a decent weather day to explore my door issue. What I found was that 12 of the screws that held the side trim / upper half of the hinge to the plywood body side inner panel were rusted and the heads sheared off. They had fallen down into the hinge and one had lodged to the point of pushing out the trim / hinge when the door was lowered and latched. I redrilled the holes through the fiberglass side all the way through to the metal reinforcement and installed new screws. Problem solved! I can't seem to get pictures to load but if I figure it out I will do so later.
