That last time my Honda generator did this was a couple of years back. It seems I had the FUEL TANK cap set to the wrong position. It has ON and OFF on it for storing it with fuel inside and not let fuel fumes leak out into a closed area...
It would run for a short time then quit. Didn't really notice the oil light coming on...
