Honda guy here...some facts:
The engine oil / lubrication system in both the EU1000i and EU2000i is a splash / connecting-rod dipper design. It is NOT pressurized.
The Oil Alert system is just a simple float in the crankcase that signals the engine control computer and shuts down the engine if the level gets too low.
Oil Alert is implemented on all current Honda generator models.
